José Luis García-López

José Luis García-López (born March 26, 1948 in Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain) is a Spanish-Argentine comic book artist who lives and works in the United States, particularly in a long-running relationship with DC Comics. In addition to his storytelling artwork in comic books, he is responsible for producing the official reference art for characters in the DC Comics Style Guide, that has been used worldwide in licensed merchandise. Often called "the artist's artist" by his creative peers, he was inspired by artists such as Alex Raymond, Harold Foster, Milton Caniff, José Luis Salinas, and Alberto Breccia. José having given the definitive look to most DC characters for the past 40 years is most known for his work on Batman, DC Comics Presents, Deadman, Jonah Hex, Superman, All-New Collectors' Edition #C-54 (Superman vs Wonder Woman) as well as Atari Force, Hercules Unbound, Tarzan and the DC-Marvel crossover that teamed Batman with the Hulk, DC Special Series #27 (1981). Notably he's received several major industry awards including Premios Haxtur (Haxtur Awards) for Best Drawing, Hero Initiative Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Eisner Hall of Fame Award.
